The Rasta 13th Beach Winter Surf Report 01.08.19

The Rasta 13th Beach Winter Surf Report 01.08.19….High Tide 11.30am Low Tide 5.30pm….Tis a fairly weak 2 to 3ft swell on the open beaches with a light westerly wind on it…making for some cross shore wave action at 13th and Townies…clean small logging surf at Posso’s to Bells…maybe a high tide paddle at Raffamea Bay too…mmm…Friday will be westerly at 11K’s and 4 to 5ft on the open beachies…looking way too cross shore for 13th and Townies and likely hard work at this size…clean solid surf from Posso’s to Bells region, clean smaller surf east of townies, Raffamea Bay and Fisho’s Torqool…Saturday will be west to north westerly at 20K’s and 5 to 6ft…the swell is still super solid and maybe too cross shore for the open beaches…Posso’s to Bells will be firing…Sunday will be west to north westerly at 12K’s and 5ft….…Beacon may fire up for those Beaconites who wish to worship the Charlemont surf god…in 1853 the Captain of the ship(Billy Gardener)launched the  Charlemont (147 feet of solid timber sled) into a wave on the outer reef and charged head long into one of the biggest barrels ridden by a pasty faced white man and its 366 riders and crew…needless to say the wave sucked drier than a dingo’s donger and the Charlemont ran over the reef and put a whole way bigger than any good ding doctor could bog up, yes that sucker sank like a stone off the bluff and the rest they say is history…but the legend of Billy Gardener lives on in surfing folk lore…of which the Beaconites regale over a stubby or two after most surf sessions…though I digress….Sunday will be west to north westerly at 12K’s and 3 to 5ft…more solid surf…Monday will be north to north westerly at 16K’s and 2 to 3ft…clean fun waves at 13th and Townies…an ideal day for a paddle me thinks…get out there…Stay Upright and Make a Difference Ross Rasta Surf Co
